real mump day#6
Yesterday, was my actual mump day #6. My parents came over to visit the mump girl. They brought over food, lunch( my dad had cooked some fish, squash, and vinegar cucumbers), videos, and a big bouquet of colorful flowers..my mom told me that they were from dad. I was so grateful to have a little outdoors brought indoors. more on that later. They also washed my dishes for me which was soooo nice because it had been a while; long enough to create a moldy mess. so...I get to thinking about the flowers after my parents hung out with me for a bit, and we watched a bit of errand of angels...anyway, yesterday, my dad picked up my mom from the airport. She went to Carpinteria, California with her friend, Iris. Dad called me to see how I was doing, and he was telling me how tired he was, and how he really didn't want to clean up the kitchen, especially when it had been left slightly dirty in the first place. I sympathized, and then I suggested to him that the main thing was to wipe the counters, and clean the floor, but if he really wanted to impress mom, and also show Iris that he was in fact, a good husband to my mom, which is true, then he would buy mom flowers, and bring them to her when he picked her up. well, he never said whether or not he liked the idea, but I figured it out...he did like the idea. How do I know? My mom is a fantastic regifter! She loves receiving thoughtful gifts like flowers, and she enjoys them, but if she knows that there is someone else out there that could enjoy them more...she's all about the regifting. It's kind of double rewarding, in the fact, that she gets to receive and to give all at the same time. She has always done this type of regifting for years. I think her idea is brilliant. She doesn't have to spend money, and she doesn't have to keep things in her house that eventually will die or deflate. She gets to make someone else happy. As I was pondering this in my mind, I smiled and smirked to myself. My parents are very loving good people, and I got to enjoy those beautiful flowers my dad got my mom all because my dad listened to my advise, and my mom is such a thoughtful regifter. It's sort of a circle of life thing. I'm going to talk to Todd about making it a short story:)
